Open the whole wall, not just part of it.
Folding doors, also called bifold patio doors or exterior bifold doors, are a row of hinged glass panels that fold against each other and stack at one or both ends of the opening. When they are open, almost the entire width of the wall is clear, which is what makes them the favorite for outdoor kitchens, pool houses and living rooms facing the yard.
Aluminum makes bifolds practical at large sizes. Slim, strong frames carry the glass panels, and thermally broken profiles help with heat. Closed, they read as a glass wall; open, the room and the patio become one space for most of the year in Texas.
Every folding system is laid out for its opening: the number of panels, the direction they fold, whether there is a single entry door built into the system and what threshold works for the drainage. Blackline designs the layout, fabricates it and installs it with our own crews.

Panels, stacking and access.
We lay out each system around the opening and how you will use it day to day.

All panels fold to one end, leaving the rest of the opening completely clear.
Split stacking

One panel works as a regular hinged door for daily use without opening the whole system.
In-fold or out-fold
Panels fold inside or outside depending on furniture layout, patio space and weather exposure.

Questions about aluminum folding doors.
What is the difference between bifold and sliding doors?
Bifold panels fold against each other and stack at the end, opening almost the full width. Sliding panels glide and stack behind each other, keeping larger glass panels but leaving part of the opening covered. We help you choose per opening.
Are aluminum folding doors secure?
Yes. Folding systems use multi-point locking on the panels and are built with the same aluminum frames as our sliding systems.
Do folding doors let water in?
Properly specified thresholds, sealing and installation keep water out. Out-fold systems and the right threshold are often recommended for exposed openings.
Can I use a folding door as my everyday patio door?
Yes. We can include a traffic door in the system so you can go in and out without opening all the panels.
How much do aluminum folding doors cost?
Price depends on the width, height, number of panels, glass and installation. Send your opening size for a free estimate.
