Made to measure for Houston homes, installed by the people who built them.
Blackline has built and installed custom iron and steel doors in Houston since 2015, from wrought iron front doors on traditional homes to clean modern steel entry doors with glass. Every door starts from the measurements of your opening, not from a stock size, and it is installed by our own crews, the same team that confirms the measurements and comes back if anything needs adjusting. For homeowners that means one company responsible for the door from the first drawing to the final walkthrough. For builders it means a supplier that is close to the job site.
Most of our work in Houston falls into three groups: double iron front doors on new and remodeled homes, iron French and patio doors opening to the backyard and the pool, and iron pivot doors for modern entries. Many projects combine them with iron windows so the whole elevation shares the same black lines.
You can see the doors full size before you decide. Our iron door showroom in Houston is on Hammerly Blvd in Spring Branch, a short drive from Memorial, the Energy Corridor and the Galleria area.

Houston architecture, and how iron handles the humidity.
Houston does not have one house style. Brick traditionals and Georgian homes line River Oaks and Tanglewood, modern rebuilds keep going up in West University and Bellaire, Mediterranean and stucco homes fill parts of Memorial and Sugar Land, and the master-planned communities in Katy, Cypress and The Woodlands mix farmhouse, transitional and Hill Country elevations. Iron fits all of them because the design changes with the house: arched tops and divided lites for traditional homes, clean full-glass panels for modern ones.
The climate is the harder part. Houston combines long, hot summers, humidity that stays high most of the year and heavy rain from Gulf storms. A front door here has to deal with moisture as much as heat. Iron and steel do not swell, warp or rot the way wood does, but how it is finished, sealed and set matters as much as the material itself.
That is why we detail every Houston installation for the weather: a durable finish on the iron, weatherstripping and thresholds that keep wind-driven rain out, glass chosen for the orientation of the entry, and a frame set level and sealed to the wall so water has nowhere to sit. A covered porch helps any door, but our doors are built to work on exposed entries too. With a simple cleaning and a yearly check of the seals, an iron door holds up in Houston for decades.

Double iron and steel front doors for Houston entries.
Double front doors, in iron or steel, are the most requested door we build in Houston. Two leaves fill a wide entry with glass and iron, bring light into the foyer and give the front of the house a stronger presence from the street. Our standard double is 72" × 96", and we build taller and wider pairs for two-story foyers, often with sidelights or a transom to fill the rest of the opening.
You choose the panel design (full-view glass, divided lites or a grid pattern), the top (square, eyebrow or full arch), the glass (clear, rain or Low-E) and the hardware. As a ballpark, our custom iron doors run around $145 per square foot, which puts a standard double close to $7,000 before options and site work. See the configurations on our custom iron entry doors page or read our guide to double iron front doors: sizes, sidelights and costs.
Steel French and patio doors for Houston backyards.
In Houston, the back of the house is where people live: the covered patio, the outdoor kitchen and the pool. Iron and steel French doors open that space to the living room while keeping the house sealed when the doors are closed. They are also one of our most common remodel projects, replacing an aging slider or a pair of wood doors that no longer close tightly.
We build pairs and multi-panel systems with divided lites that match your windows, in-swing or out-swing depending on the opening, and with thresholds detailed for heavy rain. For very wide openings, slim aluminum sliding doors are another option, and many Houston homes use both: iron at the front and aluminum at the back. See iron French and patio doors for layouts and glass options.

Custom iron and steel doors across Greater Houston.
Our crews install throughout the Houston area. These are some of the neighborhoods and suburbs where we work most often.
River Oaks
Stately brick and limestone homes where iron doors usually follow the traditional details: arched or eyebrow tops, divided lites and a strong pair of front doors under a classic portico.
Memorial
Large lots, tall foyers and a mix of modern and Mediterranean rebuilds. Tall double doors with transoms and iron pivot doors are common entries in the Memorial villages.
Tanglewood
Mid-century homes being remodeled or rebuilt near the Galleria. Replacing an original wood door with a custom iron front door is often the first update on the elevation.
Bellaire
New construction on narrow, deep lots with modern and transitional fronts. Clean full-glass iron doors and matching iron windows suit these elevations.
West University
Two-story rebuilds where the entry is close to the street and has to make an impression in a small footprint. A tall single iron door with sidelights is a popular choice.
Katy & Cinco Ranch
Master-planned communities with farmhouse and transitional homes. Double iron front doors and iron French doors to the backyard pool are our most common Katy projects.
The Woodlands
Wooded lots, stone and stucco elevations and plenty of shade. Iron doors with warm glass options and arched tops sit naturally in the trees.
Sugar Land
Established neighborhoods and newer custom builds around Telfair and Riverstone. Many projects replace builder-grade fiberglass entries with custom iron doors.
Cypress
Fast-growing communities with new custom homes. We coordinate with builders on rough openings and shop drawings so the doors arrive when the house is ready for them.
Spring
Larger family homes north of the city where wide entries call for double iron doors with sidelights, and covered patios call for iron French doors.
Kingwood
Homes set among tall pines, often with stone and brick fronts. Arched iron entry doors and iron windows match the traditional character of the area.
Pearland
Newer subdivisions south of the city where homeowners upgrade the front entry. Iron doors with Low-E glass help with the strong afternoon sun on west-facing fronts.

Iron doors in Houston: common questions.
How much do custom iron and steel doors cost in Houston?
As a ballpark, our custom iron doors run around $145 per square foot of door: about $3,500 for a 36" × 96" single door and about $7,000 for a 72" × 96" double, before glass upgrades, special designs and site work. Send rough sizes and a photo for a free written estimate.
Do iron and steel doors hold up in Houston humidity?
Yes, when they are finished, sealed and installed correctly. Iron does not swell or rot like wood. We use a durable finish, weatherstripping and thresholds detailed for heavy rain, and we recommend checking the seals once a year.
Which Houston areas do you install in?
All of Greater Houston, including River Oaks, Memorial, Tanglewood, Bellaire, West University, Katy and Cinco Ranch, The Woodlands, Sugar Land, Cypress, Spring, Kingwood and Pearland.
Can you replace my existing front door with an iron door?
Yes. Replacement is one of our most common Houston projects. We measure the existing opening, remove the old door and frame, and install the new iron door with sealing and trim.
How long does a custom iron door take in Houston?
Lead time depends on the size, design and our production schedule. Every quote includes a timeline, confirmed once you approve the shop drawings.
Can I see the doors before ordering?
Yes. Visit our showroom at 10795 Hammerly Blvd, Houston, TX 77043, Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, or call (346) 615-6860 to book a time.
