How Much Do Custom Iron Doors Cost in Texas?

By · · 6 min read

Black iron double entry door on a Texas home

Custom iron doors are priced by size first and options second. Below is the ballpark we use when homeowners ask for a number before they send measurements, plus the factors that move a quote up or down.

The short answer: price per square foot

As a starting point, our custom iron doors run around $145 per square foot of door. Multiply the width by the height of the door in feet and you have a quick estimate before glass upgrades, special designs or site work.

That number is a ballpark, not a quote. Every door is built to the opening, so the final price is confirmed once we see the size, the style and the photos of your entry.

Example prices by size

Using that ballpark, here is roughly where common sizes land:

  • Single entry door, 36" × 96" (3 × 8 ft = 24 sq ft): around $3,500.
  • Double entry doors, 72" × 96" (6 × 8 ft = 48 sq ft): around $7,000.
  • Tall double doors, 72" × 120" (6 × 10 ft = 60 sq ft): around $8,700.
  • Oversized pivot door, 60" × 120" (5 × 10 ft = 50 sq ft): around $7,250, before pivot-specific hardware.

Use these to plan a budget. Your written quote will show the exact price and the lead time for your door.

What makes a custom iron door cost more

Two doors of the same size can price differently. These are the factors that move the number:

  • Size and configuration: taller, wider and double or pivot doors use more iron and need heavier hardware.
  • Design: arched and eyebrow tops, divided lites and decorative scrollwork take more fabrication time than a clean rectangular design.
  • Glass: clear glass is the base. Low-E, rain, frosted or insulated glass add cost but improve comfort and privacy.
  • Finish and hardware: specialty finishes, smart locks and upgraded handle sets are priced as options.
  • Installation conditions: replacing an existing door, widening an opening or working on a second-floor balcony changes the labor involved.

Is a custom iron door worth it?

An iron entry door is built to last for decades, and it changes how the whole front of the house reads from the street. Because every Blackline door is fabricated to the measured opening, it seals and closes correctly instead of being forced into a frame that was built for something else.

For most homeowners the decision comes down to the look they want and how long they plan to stay in the home. If you want a door that will not warp or rot and that matches iron windows or railings, iron is hard to beat.
